International organisation Hagar works with victims of human trafficking and sexual exploitation in Cambodia, Vietnam and Afghanistan.

It's mission is not just to rescue victims, but to empower them.

Eight out of ten women who have been helped by Hagar in Cambodia are now living independently in the community.

Recently the Oscar nominated Australian actor Rachel Griffiths agreed to take on the role of patron, working alongside her life-long friend Kate Kennedy, who is Hagar's chief executive.

Rachel admits that for a long time she found the subject of human trafficking way too confronting.

Presenter: Richard Ewart

Speaker: Rachel Griffiths, actress and patron of Hagar; Kate Kennedy, chief executive of Hagar Australia
