But few would call them appropriate footwear for an 160 kilometre ultra-marathon, let alone homemade ones.

But that's just what one Tongan man has used when running the Round the Mountain Relay in New Zealand.

Forty-eight-year-old Andrew Fifita-Lamb spoke to Sam Bolitho and started by describing his unique footware.
