A spate of arson in Nuku Hiva in French Polynesia's Marquesas

The island of Nuku Hiva in French Polynesia's Marquesas has been hit by a series of arson attacks that have burned cultural sites, buildings and a large double hulled canoe.

Deborah Kimitete is the deputy mayor of Nuku Hiva and also a member of the organisation which built the canoe, Tehina o Motuhaka, which translates as "The Daughter of the Islands."

She told Bethany Keats that a fourth building was burnt to the ground last night.
