Abbott government would seek 'more mature' PNG relations

The deputy leader of the Australian Opposition and Foreign Affairs spokeswoman, Julie Bishop says the Indian Ocean and the Asia Pacific region will be the focus of foreign affairs is there is a change of government in September.

Ms Bishop says the foreign policy of an Abbott government will be pragmatic and go hand in hand with Australia's trading priorities.

Ms Bishop says a new government will endeavour to have a more mature relations with Papua New Guinea.
