ADB foreshadows massive boost in alternative energy projects in Pacific

The cost of producing electricity in the Pacific is crippling, with most nations relying on imported diesel to run generators.

More and more solar systems are being installed and geothermal power is being explored in several nations.

The push for alternatives to diesel is to receive a massive boost with the Asian Development Bank.

The ADB is investing 228 million dollars over three years.

Anthony Maxwell, the ADB's Pacific Department's Senior Energy Specialist says there's more pressure on utilities to be more efficient.
