African delegates to AIDS 2014 in Melbourne applying for asylum

At least 19 African delegates from the AIDS 2014 Conference hosted in Melbourne have stayed on in Australia to apply for asylum.

One man from Tanzania has told the ABC his work with HIV positive people and with albinos in his home country has put his life at risk.

A crisis accomodation service is supporting the delegates whose tourism visas have expired or will do so soon, and they're also receiving legal advice.
