All-Whites prepare for showdown with China in Shanghai

Updated 13 November 2012, 17:57 AEST

The New Zealand soccer squad is gathering in Shanghai for tomorrow night's friendly international against China.

The All-Whites will be going in search of a first away win against their Asian opponents, after losing three and drawing two of their previous five matches on Chinese soil.

But they will have to it without their captain Ryan Nelsen.

The defender who plays for Queens Park Rangers in the English Premier League is not being risked because of an ongoing problem with knee and ankle injuries.

OFC Competitions Director Seamus Marten who's travelling with the All-Whites says Nelsen's absence has opened the door for 17-year-old Cameron Howieson, another of the squad's English-based players.
