Amnesty to inspect Nauru detention centre today

An Amnesty International team will make the first independent inspection of the Nauru detention centre today.

They'll report back this afternoon on their initial impressions.

But confusion still surrounds the plight of 14 men who are facing up to seven years in jail for rioting at the detention centre.

A lawyer has stepped in to help them when they protested about not being given proper legal representation.
