Australia celebrates NAIDOC week

In Australia events are being held across the country this week to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.

The annual event, known as NAIDOC week, involves indigenous as well as non-indigenous Australians. 

This year, the theme is " Serving Country: centenary and beyond"  celebrating the contribution of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to Australia's defense forces. 

Speakers:  Aboriginal researcher Noelene Briggs-Smith, Professor Mick Dodson, director of the National Centre for Indigenous Studies at the Australian National University
