Australia Day honours: Award for Pacific infectious disease expert

Professor Brendan Crabb has been made a Companion of the Order of Australia for eminent service to medical science as a prominent researcher of infectious diseases, particularly malaria, and as an advocate, mentor and administrator.

He is the director and CEO of the Burnet Institute of Medical Research and Public Health which runs programs in PNG, Fiji and Vanuatu.

Professor Crabb says receiving the award was surreal.
