Aid agencies are struggling to access the worst hit areas of Solomon Islands, struck by a powerful earthquake and tsunami last week.

Australia's High Commissioner to Solomon Islands says Australia is responding to requests for assistance by the government in Honiara.

Matthew Anderson says it's still a challenging environment for staff from Australia's aid agency, AUSAID to work in.
