Australian archive releases mid 80's cabinet papers

A better tax system, extricating Australian foreign policy from the United States and a second airport in Sydney.

It reads like a set of New Year's resolutions for the current Gillard government. But secret cabinet documents have revealed these were also the aims of the Hawke government three decades ago. The National Archives has today publicly released the cabinet records from 1984 and 1985.
