Papua New Guinea is ideally placed to take advantage of the Asian Century but will not make the most of that opportunity without strong investment in agriculture and infrastructure, the Australia-PNG Business Forum has been told.

In a keynote address to the Forum, Grant Mitchell from the Sydney-based consultancy Port Jackson Partners, outlined the debate that needs to take place if PNG is to realise its potential of becoming a middle-income country.

Mr Mitchell is author of the ANZ Insight report 'Bold Thinking: Imagining PNG in the Asian Century'.

He says PNG has enormous potential to grow its resource sector but even more in agriculture.
