Renewable energy is 'good' and fossil fuels are 'bad'.

That's the common perception but it's more complicated than that.

Renewable energy can also have a damaging impact on the environment.

And in a region that is culturally, socially and economically dependent on nature, careful planning and management is crucial.

This topic is at the centre of a Pacific energy and climate change meeting in Fiji.
