Bio mass energy - Vanuatu's latest venture to cut fuel imports

Vanuatu is adding to its mix of alternative energy by developing a bio-mass energy to help reduce its reliance on imported petroleum products.

The main distributor company of electricity in Vanuatu, the Unelco company has signed an agreement with the Ministry of Agriculture for a pilot project to plant species of trees which can produced the energy.

The chief Executive Officer of the Unelco, Yves Mairault say the project will be base at Undine Bay in the north of the island of Efate.
