Campaign to halve Australia's suicide rate

Australia's mental health service providers want to halve the national rate of suicide in a decade.

It's a worthy, but ambitious goal.

While initiatives to reduce youth suicide in particular have had some recent success, the overall national figures have stayed more or less the same for decades.

Experts in Perth for a national suicide prevention conference say a concerted effort from the health and business sectors is needed to meet the challenge.
