Children from three small Pacific Island communities in New Zealand may be able to go to a school specifically set up for them in the future.

A group of community figures from the Cook Islands, Niuean and Tokelauan communities in Auckland are looking at the possibility of setting up a charter or character primary school that would see their vernacular languages used in the classroom.

One of them, Mele Namaia, chair of the Vagahau Niue Trust, explains to Bruce Hill how they got the idea.
