Community failed trafficked young women - Youth Empowerment Fiji

Updated 22 February 2013, 9:42 AEDT

A Fiji youth organisation says the whole community must take part of the blame for the first case of domestic human trafficking before the courts.

Two men are facing charges of trafficking three young women for prostitution

Youth Empowerment Fiji says the case represents a failure by the community to guide young men into useful employment, a failure to provide guidance for at risk teenage girls and a failure to provide help to parents whose role has been made more difficult by the advance of technology and the internet.
