Time is running out for the Democratic Party to challenge the result of the General Election in Cook Islands.

Opposition leader Wilkie Rasmussen has told Pacific Beat he's confident a challenge in the High Court would succeed, but now the speculation is that the Democrats don't have the funds to proceed.

They're looking to overturn the outcome in five seats, enough to put them into power.

But the leader of the victorious Cook Islands Party, Henry Puna, who is poised to begin another term as Prime Minister, says the Democrats are simply bad losers who need to reflect on where their campaign went wrong.
