Coral listing would harm Pacific communities

There's concern in the US Pacific Islands about a proposal from a mainland US environmental group to list a number of coral species on an endangered list.

The Pacific Islands Regional Ocean Partnership is a partnership between the US islands' governors and they are worried the listing could have negative effects on local economies.

Dr Takiora Ingram from the PROP Secretariat says the islands have their own legislation in place to protect the corals.
