Coroner rules suicide linked to Christchurch quake stress

Updated 5 June 2013, 9:24 AEST

In New Zealand a coroner has found that the suicide of a man is linked to trauma caused by the earthquake that devastated Christchurch in 2011.

It is believed to be the first death by suicide directly linked to the earthquake.

The news comes amid warnings that it often takes two years after a major traumatic event for the real impact of stress to materialise.
