"Your language keeps your culture and identity afloat": that's the theme of this year's Tuvalu Language week in New Zealand.

The events kicked off on Monday and aim to celebrate the language and culture through song, food and craft.

Vaioleti Lui from the New Zealand Department of Pacific Island Affairs oversees the week.

She says the second year of the event has been a success.
