Cyclone heading for Samoa, then maybe northern Cooks

A depression heading for Samoa has officially strengthened into a cyclone.

Meteorologists expect it to pass close to the country in the next 12 to 24 hours.

Mulipola Titimaea, director of the Meteorology Division, tells Bruce Hill it will be formally given a name by the tropical cyclone centre in Fiji in the next three hours.
