A fire in Fiji in which two children died is being referred to police because of possible negligence.

It is alleged that the mother of the four year old girl and 17 month old boy left them sleeping in a room with a candle at a village in Taveuni, while she went to get cassava.

The house was on fire when she returned 20 minutes later.
