Fears of more violence in Honiara after weekend rioting

Updated 19 May 2014, 17:42 AEST

In Solomon Islands, most of the stores in the capital, Honiara have shut their doors this afternoon - with rumours circulating there could be further rioting.

At least one building was looted and torched on Friday night.

Police say most of the rioters were people affected by last month's flood disaster.

After the city returned to calm on Sunday, riot police are again patrolling the streets and most businesses have closed their doors.
