A scientific committee has made recommendations on the management of the second largest fisheries in the US Pacific Islands.

The fishery covers Hawaii, American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands and the US Pacific Islands.

Long line fisheries, false killer whale protection, assesments of various species numbers and coral protection where all part of the discussions.

Paul Dalzel is a Senior Scientist from the Western Pacific Regional Fishery Management Council and he says over the past ten years the catch of South pacific Albacore has doubled.
