Christmas is typically a time for celebration but experts say it's also a time of year when domestic violence rates spike.

The Fiji Women's Crisis Centre says it's received 120 reports of violence against women in the past eight days.

That statistic comes less than a month after the centre released survey results that revealed two thirds of women in Fiji have experienced sexual and or physical abuse.

Presenter: Sam Bolitho.

Speaker: Shamima Ali, Fiji Women's Crisis Centre coordinator.
