First gender violence clinic opens in Honiara

Solomon Islands has launched its first dedicated clinic for gender violence victims.

Gender-based violence is a growing problem in Solomon Islands, with around 64 per cent of women experiencing sexual assault or violence at least once in their lifetime.

Interim clinic manager Kim Abbey says the clinic has been a long time coming, but it's better late than never.
