First woman takes over top job at Solomon Islands police

The Solomon Islands has a new Acting Police Commissioner.

A 23-year veteran of the force, Juanita Matanga has taken the reins while Commissioner John Lansley is on leave.

Assistant Commissioner Matanga is the first woman to step into the role.

She says her appointment shows other women in the country that they too can reach high positions of power.
