Former Nauru Solicitor General says resignation was the only choice

Updated 28 January 2014, 17:54 AEDT

Nauru's former Solicitor General says his resignation was a protest over the treatment of the Resident Magistrate and Chief Justice.

Speaking for the first time since leaving Nauru at the weekend, Steven Bliim says he did not want to be seen to support a governemnt which did not comply with its own law. The government denies it has abused the rule of law over the forceful deportation of Magistrate Peter Law and for revoking the visa for Justice Geoffrey Eames.
