Former Tokelau premier appointed to Global Oceans Commission

A Tokelau MP will join the newly formed Global Ocean Commission as a commissioner alongside British MP David Miliband, Jose Maria Figueres, who is an ex-President of Costa Rica, and Trevor Manuel, a former finance minister of South Africa.

The Commission is a new initiative that has been created to tackle the serious challenges and threats facing the high seas.

It was launched in London earlier this month.
