In Central Australia next week, an unusual protest will start at Lake Eyre with a group of people setting off for Indonesian province of West Papua.

They're calling it the Freedom Flotilla to West Papua and the indigenous elders behind it say it is 'creative resistance' to what they describe as the Indonesian occupation of West Papua.

Their spokesman Ronny Kareni says they are trying to send a solidarity message through a peace journey.

Presenter: Geraldine Coutts
