Global fight against HIV, TB and Malaria continues

The world is winning the fight against many infectious diseases, but in the Pacific people may have to wait a while for eventual cures.

James Gilling, ambassador of the Australian aid agency Aus AID's for TB, HIV and Malaria, says most of the world's resources that go into fighting those diseases are targeted at where most people are affected, such as Asia and Africa.

But he says their impact on the Pacific is severe, and our region has not been forgotten.
