Global strategy for New Cal nickel on Paris talks agenda

Annual talks in Paris on the issue of independence for New Caledonia have just concluded.

Every year representatives on both sides of the independence divide go to France to evaluate progress under the Noumea Accord. High on the agenda was a proposal to develop a global strategy for the nations lucrative nickel industry.

Also discussed was the future of the territory's institutions and preferred options for independence.
