Guam to relax gun laws

Updated 2 April 2014, 14:37 AEDT

A bill has been introduced into Guam's legislature which if passed will open the way for the island's citizens to carry concealed firearms.

And the bill states that applicants will no longer be required to give a reason when they apply for a gun permit, self-defence is enough.

The law would allow all applicants who meet the criteria to be issued a gun, without police discretion.

The Bill has overwhelming bipartisan support.

Presenter: Richard Ewart

Speaker: Senator Aline Yamashita, Guam legislature
