Human rights concerns amid aid cuts

Updated 30 April 2014, 18:34 AEST

A human rights report released this week has raised concerns that any cut to Australia's aid program will cause issues for the human rights of people in developing countries.

The 2014 Castan Human Rights Report investigated various human rights issues, in Australia and around the world, including those of asylum seekers and women.

But the Castan Centre's deputy director Dr Adam McBeth warns there's an even more concerning, and much more hidden issue that will impact on people's human rights in countries which traditionally receive Australian aid.

Presenter: Catherine Graue

Speaker: Dr Adam McBeth, Deputy Director of the Castan Centre at Monash University
