Inquiry into Cook Islands' 'Cola-gate' scandal

Updated 25 March 2013, 10:55 AEDT

A parliamentary committee will carry out an inquiry into the Cook Islands "Cola-gate" scandal which involved Customs giving tax breaks to the Cook Islands Trading Corporation.

Under an exclusive 20 year agreement, customs allowed the company to pay a reduced levy on Coca-Cola imports compared to other companies.

Terms of reference are now being drawn up for the Public Accounts Committee to conduct its inquiry.
