Hundreds of people are gathering on and around Sydney Harbour to watch the arrival of a flotilla of Pacific canoes.

The vaka will sail under the Harbour Bridge on the final leg of the Mua Voyage, which has covered thousands of kilometres over the past few weeks.

The President of Palau, Tommy Remengasau Jr and the Prime Minister of Cook Islands, Henry Puna have joined the voyagers as they prepare to make their grand entrance ahead of the opening of the World Parks Congress which Sydney is hosting.

The President of Kiribati, Anote Tong has also joined the flotilla to press home the Pacific message on the need for urgent action on climate change.
