Fisheries officials from across Melanesia have been meeting in Vanuatu to plot what's being described as a "roadmap for the protection of inshore fisheries".

Leaders in the Melanesian Spearhead Group decided to press ahead with the road map at a special summit in Suva last year.

Laban Gisawa is the manager for Inshore Fisheries in Papua New Guinea and he says that after days of talks in Port Vila, the draft roadmap has been completed.
