Australia's Environment minister is to be given new powers to enable him to stop the super trawler, that recently arrived in Australia on a mission to fish Jack Mackerel and Redbait in local watersThe minister, Tony Burke, imposed a series of what he said were the toughest conditions possible under the existing environmental law.

However, the Labor party's caucus has backed his move the get new powers to block the supertrawler.

Alexandra Kirk reports from Canberra the Government has been spurred into action by a backlash against the super trawler.
