New Aust. Rugby competition could open doors for Pacific players

The launch of a new national rugby competition in Australia in August could open more doors for players from the Pacific Islands.

The competition will feature nine teams - two from Queensland, four from New South Wales and one each from the Australian Capital Territory, Victoria and Western Australia.

The main aim is to compete with New Zealand and South Africa where third-tier competitions behind international and super rugby are already well established.
