New genetic variants for breast, ovarian and prostate cancer identifie

Research papers identifying 74 new areas of the genome that can increase a person's risk of breast, prostate and ovarian cancer have been published simultaneously in five leading medical journals.

The research nearly doubles the number of DNA regions that are known to be associated with hormone related-cancers.

Australian researchers contributed to the study which has been described as "historic and ground-breaking".
