New Pacific focus on disaster preparation

Disaster managers from across the Pacific are meeting to consider proposals for professionalising disaster management.

At the end of the meeting today they will adopt something called a "draft Competency Framework" to try to ensure vulnerable Pacific Island nations have the best skills and qualifications available to their communities to prepare, plan, warn, manage and recover from disaster events.
