New play takes a confronting look at deaths in custody

New play takes a confronting look at deaths in custody

A new Australian play called This Heaven draws attention to the controversial theme of Aboriginal deaths in the custody.

It is the story of an Aboriginal man arrested and placed in jail for drunk driving and the impact of his suicide on his family.

Reviewers have described This Heaven as allowing the audience a glimpse into hell and then allowing them to leave.

The plawright is 26 year old Nakkiah Lui, a Gamilaroi/Torres Strait Island woman who grew up in Sydney.
