Next Special Olympics could be hosted in the Pacific

One of the Pacific countries could be in line to host the next Special Olympics Asia-Pacific.

Five Pacific teams - Samoa, American Samoa, Tonga, Papua New Guinea and Timor-Leste - were among 29 in all, including NZ and the host nation, Australia, to take part in the inaugural event in the city of Newcastle in New South Wales.

Chris Heverin, the project director for the Special Olympics, says they should not be confused with the Paralympics.
