NGA resignation not linked to shiva controversy - chair

The National Gallery of Australia -- home to significant collections of both Asian and Pacific art -- is about to advertise for a new director following the announcement that its current head, Ron Radford, is retiring.

Mr Radford has been embroiled in an international controversy about millions of dollars of allegedly stolen Indian antiquities that are on display in Canberra.

But the chair of the gallery, Allan Myers says his retirement has no connection to the scandal.
