Pacific agreement on information sharing on HIV AIDS and STIs

Updated 5 December 2012, 10:52 AEST

Countries across the Pacific are agreeing to work closer in the fight against AIDS and HIV.

The closer cooperation is an outcome of the recent fourth regional HIV and AIDS summit of the Pacific Island Jurisdictions AIDS Action Group, known as PIJAAG, which took place in Guam.

PIJAAG brought together health practitioners from the both the South and North Pacific.

Dr Dennie Iniakwala, the HIV and STI team leader at Secretariat of Pacific Community, says the the north and south regions share similar challenges in the fight against sexually transmitted diseases.
