Over the weekend, Melbourne played host to the inaugural Contemporary Pacific Arts Festival an event showcasing excellence in Pacific contemporary arts in Australia.

The Festival's community day held was on Saturday in the Melbourne suburb of Footscray.

Hundreds of people gathered to see the arrival of a ceremonial 'Waka' on the Maribyrnong River and celebrated with Pacific food, music, dance and art.

Radio Australia will be featuring the festival all week so make sure you keep tuning in and also check out our website and Facebook Page for some great photos, Radioaustralia.net.au
