Updated 7 November 2012, 10:49 AEST

A group of 21 government workers from a range of Pacific Island nations are in Saipan this week to take part in a executive leadership development program.

The program is managed by the Graduate School USA and is funded by the US Department of the Interior and takes the participants to four different island countries.

Stephen Latimer, the International Institute program manager at Graduate School USA, told Alexandra Wake the group will develop their skills in leadership, management, government finance, procurement, and auditing ... but it's dealing with family and friends that usually proves the most difficult skill.

Presenter: Alexandra Wake

Speaker: Stephen Latimer, International Institute program manager, Graduate School USA
