A group of nurses from around the Pacific has started a four-month Sexual and Reproductive Health Management Training Programme in Fiji this week.

They've been urged to develop a stronger sense of responsibility towards reaching the UN's Millennium Development Goals by improving healthcare in the region.

Opening the program, Dr Annette Sachs Robertson from the Pacific representative of the United Nations Population Fund says maternal deaths, family planning and gender based violence remain major problems across the region.
